Making the Measurement

With the mires centered and in focus, one 
is ready to make the measurement.  
Rotate the drum on the left (horizontal) 
until the horizontal plus signs are just 
separated.  The horizontal lines of the 
plus should be aligned-make a straight 
line (top picture).  If they are not this 
indicates there is corneal toricity at 
some axis other than 180 or 90 degrees 
(bottom picture).
